HO SIU CHONG

1977   Born in Nanhai, Guangdong Province, China

Chong started learning design and tried with his own hands on various style of jewellery craftsmenship since he was young. In 1999, after Chong graduated from Hong Kong Technical Institute of Jewellery, he immediately joined one of the local, top ODM fine jewellery manufacturer, Cheng & Cheung. Mesmerized by his childhood’s memories on the beauty of nature, and at the same time obsessed with industrial materials and complicated yet intricate fabrication of things, Chong left Hong Kong in 2004 and continued his studies in titanium development and production technology in Italy, followed by a master class in the UCE Birmingham Institute of Art and Design in 2006.

There is no secret to his artistic mastery of the jewellery art. It is simply a combination of his perseverence in mastering the art of high craftsmanship, and at the same keeping an open heart for all the beautiful myriad of things, that come and go in life. Naturalism is an ongoing theme is Chong’s work. Chong always spoke of how his family and his children have inspired his works, and you would be surprised to find his works filled with a warm sensibility of a caring husband on wearability, a child-like innocence in the use of colour and an obsession for perfect proportion.
